Moreton Road developers win appeal for 80 new homes

Developers have won the right to build 80 new homes on Moreton Road, Buckingham.

After failing to gain planning permission from Aylesbury Vale District Council (AVDC) for the new houses, developers Bellway Homes, Bellcross and Fosbern Manufacturing went to appeal.

The planning inspector’s decision has just been announced.

It says: “The appeal is allowed and planning permission is granted for the erection of 80 residential units with associated access, parking and open space provision at land to the north of Manor Park Farm, Moreton Road, Buckingham.”

The report by planning inspector Newmarsh says there is has been district-wide shortfall of housing completions since 2006/07.

It says AVDC is unable to demonstrate a five-year supply of deliverable sites on a district-wide basis.

The inspector gives little weight to the emerging Draft Vale of Aylesbury Plan, and says “the pressing need to identify and

deliver additional housing within Aylesbury Vale as a whole outweighs the SEP spatial strategy”.
