Cherie Blair unveiled a new visitor centre at HMP Grendon this morning.
The new centre at the therapeutic prison will give visitors somewhere comfortable to sit and spend time with inmates.
The prison had been criticised in inspections for its lack of visitor facilities.
Cherie Blair CBE QC, who has links to the Friends of Grendon Trust, met with prison staff at the unveiling ceremony.
The Friends of Grendon Trust has helped create a pleasant, welcoming interior for the visitor centre, while governor Dr Jamie Bennett used money from the prison budget to refurbish outdoor areas around the centre.
