Classic comedy and a musical will be making their way to Milton Keynes Theatre later this month.
Abigail’s Party, a ‘ruthlessly accurate and painfully funny observation of the pretensions of suburbia’ is coming to the theatre from May 13 to 18, following a West End season.
Beverly and estate agent husband Laurence have invited round new neighbours Tony and Ange and nervous divorcee Sue, twitchy about the party her 15-year-old daughter, Abigail, is throwing over the road.
As Beverly plies the guests with alcohol, cigarettes, Demis Roussos and nibbles, the evening descends into drunkeness and debauchery.
Set in the 1970s, Abigail’s Party stars Hannah Waterman (EastEnders) and Martin Marquez.
Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterpiece, Evita, returns to Milton Keynes Theatre, starring Marti Pellow, from May 20 to June 1.
Telling the story of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator, Juan Peron, Evita follows Eva’s journey from humble beginnings through wealth and power.
Marti Pellow plays Che, a character who reflects the voice of the Argentine people.
Beginning his career with Wet Wet Wet, Pellow has performed all over the world and his West End and musical theatre performances include The Witches of Eastwick and Chicago.
Looking further afield, West End smash Wicked, has broken box office records with the highest grossing ticket sales in the theatre’s history.
Coming to the theatre in February next year, Wicked will have a limited five-week season, from February 4 to March 8.
