Bicester athletes produced a host of personal best times at the Oxfordshire Track and Field Championships.
Bicester’s star performer of the weekend was Connor Wilce, who bagged a county championship gold medal in the long jump with a leap of 5.03 metres while also producing personal bests in the 200m (26.68 seconds) to finish third and in the 100m (13.03).
Bevan Starrett also stood out in the U17 triple jump as he took second place with a mark of 11.36m while his sister Narissa Starrett produced a fine display in the high jump, equalling her personal best of 1.45m before taking third in the long jump.
Veteran Dave Kuester was in championship winning form with a brace of first places in the over 65 throws, throwing 31.20m in the discus and 9.92m in the shot.
Jess Cherry followed Kuester’s lead with two second places in the U17 shot put (8.34m) and discus (25.15m).
The best Bicester track performance on Saturday was Mark Smith’s excellent new personal best of 55.32secs in the final of the U17 men’s 400m, which placed him sixth.
In the girls’ events, Emily Benfield placed third in the 100m and Lauren Garside recorded a new personal best in the long jump to place seventh.
