Brackley temporary structure specialist De Boer is helping opera lovers enjoy the new season in comfort with an elegant new auditorium at West Green House in Hampshire.

The 380-seat purpose-built structure has been built with see-through walls so visitors can view the house’s gorgeous gardens.

Summer operas have been a summer highlight at West Green House since it was first launched in 2000.

Marylyn Abbott, who designed the gardens at West Green House, said: “We worked very closely with De Boer to get the siting right. It is in a very tight spot on a tiered lawn between two tapestry hedges forming natural green walls.

“Erecting the auditorium was quite a challenge. It had to be lifted by crane over a listed orangery.

“We have always had tented auditoriums in the past but this new structure is a wonderful enhancement.”

This year’s season opens with a performance of The Threepenny Opera this Saturday and Sunday, July 26 and 27, with members of the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s Foyle Future Firsts programme. More events will be held in August.
