A school community has been left shocked and saddened after a ‘fun-loving and caring’ former pupil, from Bicester, suddenly passed away last weekend.
Twenty-one-year-old Patrick ‘Paddy’ Kellett – a former Bloxham School pupil – died on Saturday after he was found in a stream near to the bridge in Little Bridge Road, Bloxham, shortly after 8am.
Mr Kellett was taken to the Horton General Hospital in Banbury, where he was later pronounced dead.
Nick Irvine released a statement on behalf of Bloxham School on Monday, saying: “The entire Bloxham School community has been shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of old Bloxhamist Paddy Kellett on Saturday.
“Paddy joined Bloxham at 13 and left after completing his A-levels in 2010.
“During his time at the school Paddy showed himself to be a popular, fun-loving and caring individual who excelled on the games field where he made many friends.”
Mr Irvine added: “Our thoughts and our prayers go out to Paddy’s family at this terrible time.”
School Chaplain Father Michael Price has already conducted prayers and meditation with family and friends. It is believed Mr Kellett was staying with friends in the village over the summer and had been on his way home after a night out in Banbury.
An inquest into the circumstances of Mr Kellett’s death was opened on Tuesday but police are not treating it as suspicious.
