Buckingham Athletic suffered back-to-back defeats this week against Sun Postal Sports and Harpenden.

At the weekend, Athletic started sluggishly and had stand-in goalkeeper Dean O’Dell to thank for keeping them in the game against a strong Sun Postal team.

However, the visitors made the breakthrough to give them a deserved lead at half time.

Athletic responded well and lifted their game, with Patch Hooper pulling the scores level before poor defending allowed Sun Postal to snatch all three points.

On Tuesday night, Athletic visited Harpenden and again they made a slow start to fall behind early on.

The response from Buckingham was good and they began to dominate the game, which culminated in goals for Phil Martin and King.

However, a red card for Frankey Tarrant switched the momentum as soon after Harpenden struck level before an own goal from captain Ryan Wiffin gave the home side the lead.

It looked like a goal from Tom Clark had snatched a point with the last kick, when his free-kick from the halfway line sailed into the net, only for the linesman to flag for offside.

Athletic host Winslow on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Buckingham Charity Cup.
