Silverstone-based G Drive Racing scored a superb victory in the LMP2 class of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) at Brazil’s Interlagos circuit last weekend, writes James Beckett.
The team’s number 26 Oreca 03-Nissan, driven by (pictured left to right) Roman Rusinov, Mike Conway and John Martin finished the six-hour race fourth overall – one lap clear of their nearest LMP2 class rivals the Morgan-Nissan driven by Bertrand Baguette, Ricardo Gonzalez and Martin Plowman. G Drive Racing into fourth position in the LMP2 championship.
Sadly the G Drive Racing sister entry, carrying the Delta-ADR team name, was a race retirement after mechanical problems forced the number 25 Oreca 03-Nissan driven by Tor Graves, Robbie Kerr and James Walker into the pits.
The race was won by the Audi R18 quattro of Andre Lotterer, Benoit Treluyer and Marcel Fassler with the Tom Kristensen, Loic Duval and Allan McNish Audi R18 in second position.
The next round of the FIA WEC takes place at The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas in two weeks time.
