Buckingham firm is one of UK’s first for the Green Deal

Buckingham-based firm SolarTech is one of the first renewable energy specialists in the country to be awarded Green Deal Installer status for a range of improvements designed to make homes and businesses more energy 
efficient.

Green Deal is a government-backed initiative aiming to cut the country’s carbon emissions and lower household energy bills by making home energy improvements more affordable. Managing director Shaun Taylor said: “It is an excellent opportunity for householders and small businesses to finance improvement measures to their property, without any need for any up-front payment as it is repaid though the projected savings you can make on your electricity bill.”

He added: “All approved installers will carry the Green Deal Quality Mark, which means that they have signed up to the Green Deal Code of Practice and are suitably qualified and meet all relevant quality standards required to do the work.”

The company meets the new the PAS 2030 standard required to install condensing gas fired boilers, under-floor heating and heating controls.

It also offers renewable technologies, including solar PV, solar thermal, and ground and air source heat pumps under the Green Deal scheme.

SolarTech was founded in 2003, and has other offices 
in Leicester, Colchester, Telford, Bristol, Cambridge, Cardiff, North Wales and Edinburgh.

In 2009, SolarTech won the National Home Improvement Council award for best practice in renewable energy systems. It is also a member of organisations including the Solar Trade Association and Renewable Energy Association.
