Scuderia Ferrari will launch their new 2014 F1 car tomorrow, Saturday, via the internet before taking it to Spain for next week’s opening pre-season test.

Former Buckingham University student, Marc Gene, will be present in his capacity as the team’s official test and reserve driver and he is looking forward to being present when the new car is shown publicly for the first time.

He said: “Ferrari fans have been handed the opportunity to decide what the car is to be called. Five type numbers have been published on the Ferrari website and the one that received the most votes will be handed to the car for the new season.

“This is a great way to get the team’s many fans around the world involved with the Scuderia. I am looking forward to hearing which chassis number has been chosen.”

Ferrari will then join the majority of other F1 teams at the Jerez track in Spain next week to test the new car.

Gene added: “Everyone is really excited to see what the new F1 cars will look like and sound like. We have entered a new era this year and with 1.6-litre turbocharged engines the cars will sound very different. I think we should see a very exciting season ahead.”
