Thirty-seven Bicester athletes travelled to the third round match of the Oxfordshire Sportshall League in Witney, and all six Bicester age groups had an excellent competition.
The U11 girls were in top form as Millie Couzens, Georgie Cordy, Amelia Cox and Erin McDonnell ran superbly to win the one-lap races, before Couzens and Rushani Arumugham finished first in the vertical jump and three-lap races. Another victory then came in the chest push event, while McDonnell, Katie Ford, Holly Hunt and Georgia Usher bounced to second, helping the girls finish first overall.
The U11 boys were not to be outdone, however, as their team of Thomas Kavanagh, Josiah Edwards-Giraud, Lucas Williams and Edward Jolliffe stormed to first place in the one-lap races, with Sean Lock, George Starkey-Vickers, Cody McDonnell, Cameron Stock and Ellis Griffiths-Brown all contributing to overall first.
Also finishing first were the U13 girls, who pipped rivals Banbury by a point. The competition started with victory for Amy Gould, Molly Action, Alice Daniel and Holly Griffiths-Brown before Lauren Garside and Orlaith Lyford both gained valuable points throughout the day to take the girls top.
It was an utterly dominant display from the U13 boys as they finished the day just two points shy of a maximum score. First places went to Olly Lewis, Harvey Attrill, Fergus Jones, Tom Couzens, William Sims and Caelan Coney.
It was a closer competition for the U15 athletes. In the girls match, Rhiannon Penfold lept to success in the standing long jump, while points for Olivia Stock, Emma Ford and Jessica Stowell helped the girls to overall second.
That result was matched by the boys with Connor Wilce, Tom Gould, Alex Jack and Zak Wilce in fine form to end the competition in second place.
