Judo athlete, Caroline Kinnane, has been selected to compete for Team England at the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
Caroline, who lives in Winslow and trains at the Renrukan in Aylesbury, qualified for the 2014 Games having reached the top of the British commonwealth ranking system.
She was also crowned the Heart of England champion in 2013 and won a silver medal at the British Closed Championships and this year became the English Open champion.
Internationally, Caroline won the 2014 Argentina Pan American Open, as well as the Bosnia European Cup, and also won silver in Uruguay.
She said: “I’ve been training in Aylesbury for the past six years with sensei Mark Scott to compete at the level I am. I also train full-time at the British judo centre of excellence in Walsall. It is an honour and a dream come true for me to have been selected for the Commonwealth Games.
“I’m so excited and can’t wait to get there and get stuck in. My aim for the Games is to finish on the podium and enjoy every minute.”
The 2014 Commonwealth Games start on July 23.
