Brackley Town’s preparations for the new season stepped up a gear this week with eight goals in two pre-season friendlies as Saturday’s 3-1 win over Chesham United was followed by a 5-0 thrashing of Southern League side Biggleswade Town on Tuesday.
Claudio Diaz gave Saints an eighth-minute lead before Will Green doubled the home side’s advantage by poking home a right-wing cross on 17 minutes.
Green netted his second shortly after the break with a left-footed drive into the bottom corner before Diaz’s volley made it 4-0. Green then completed his hat-trick by crashing the ball home from eight yards.
Following Saturday’s win over Chesham, Brackley manager Jon Brady said: “I have important decisions to make. I see encouraging signs but it is still early days with important games and training sessions to come.
“I understand that supporters want to be introduced to new players and I hope to be in a position to do this soon. For now I just ask that they understand that I am fully focused on getting it right and sometimes this takes time and speculating about possible signings and who will or will not be involved at the start of the season is unhelpful. The fans have been great and there will be further news soon.”
Brackley Town’s new Development Team, meanwhile, drew 3-3 against Oakley in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday. They begin their Hellenic Division One East season against Burnham on Saturday, August 9.
