POLICE are appealing for witnesses following an armed robbery in Towcester today, Friday, June 1.
When a member of staff arrived to opening the store in the Sponne Shopping Arcade between 5.45am and 6am, three masked men threatened them and entered the store.
One of the men had a knife with him during the robbery, but this was not used and the member of staff was not harmed.
The robbers loaded a ‘significant quantity’ of cigarettes into five blue tote boxes and wheeled them out on a trolley. The trolley was later recovered nearby, however the totes are still missing.
No vehicle was seen during the robbery, although it is likely that one would have been used.
The first man is described as white, in his late 20s, around 5ft 7ins tall, with a medium build, blood shot eyes, and was wearing a black scarf covering his mouth and face, a thick black hooded top with black jogging bottoms, distinctive white boat shoes which looked new, and black gloves.
The second man is described as male, in his early 20s, around 5ft 7ins tall, with a slim build, and wore a white cotton scarf covering his mouth and nose, a thick grey top, grey jogging bottoms, distinctive white gloves which were similar to gardening gloves.
The third man was also white and in his early 20s, around 5ft 6ins tall, with a medium build, and was wearing a black hoodie, black jogging bottoms, black scarf covering his mouth and nose, and was also wearing gloves.
During the robbery a purse was also stolen, which has been recovered in Queens Road.
