Buckingham RUFC finalised their pre-season activity with an encouraging full scale game against South Bucks side Beaconsfield at Maids Morton.
Having spent the last three weeks running trials against Tring, Alchester and Leicester Forrest East, Alan Lane’s squad looked much sharper and fitter than their visitors and they took the lead after only five minutes when Rob Laird went over after good work by the forwards. Andy White added the extras.
Buckingham continued to use the ball well, spreading it wide at every opportunity with the three quarters eager to show their paces on a fine sunny afternoon. With just over 15 minutes played, White went through to score and convert his try, before Laird added his second with White again on target to take the score to 21-0.
Buckingham’s tackling was impressive throughout and they added further tries from James Francis and Steve Datchlor to complete a 31-10 victory.
Tomorrow, Saturday, league action starts as Buckingham host Witney at 3pm.
