The Bull and Butcher in Akeley has undergone a specialist refurbishment designed to preserve the 16th century pub’s character.

Owned by the Fuller Smith and Turner group, the pub and B&B business was refitted by Pub Stuff. The firm, established in 2001, provides new and second-hand pub furniture to order.

All re-used furniture is refurbished at Pub Stuff’s workshops near Banbury.

Stephen Hall, of Fuller Smith and Turner, said: “Our goal was to deliver what we felt was important to our customers, namely the right look and feel, complemented with the comfort of the right furnishings.

“So comfort, achieving great colour coordination and an eclectic mix of different sizes and styles of furniture was really what we were aiming for.”

New furniture includes a brown leather Chesterfield sofa with fireside chairs, low tables and vintage chairs. New seating is predominantly in dark wood.

Pub Stuff director Sally Huband said the firm had suggested a mix of distinctive old pieces and new items to suit the character of the Bull and Butcher.
