Young driver, Ryan Harper-Ellam, came away from Snetterton, the latest round of the 2014 Formula Jedi Championship, with two top 10 finishes.
The youngster, from Brackley, has recently partnered up with Stamford building and construction and Hella Gutmann Diagnostics Solutions and is now looking for funding for next year’s championship.
Ryan, who is already qualifying in the top six, has displayed encouraging signs in his debut season. The Formula Jedi championship was chosen for the karting graduate as it is the most cost effective step up from junior to senior racing and karts to cars. In the latest outing at Snetterton, the 16-year-old powered his way through the pack to finish eighth in race one before, on Sunday, a wet track made for an unpredictable race as the Brackley youngster made a stunning start to storm into second place before almost taking the lead.
With a lot of surface water at turn two and throughout the more technical sections of the track, the experienced drivers came through before another downpour brought a premature halt to the race with Ryan finishing seventh.
He said afterwards: “When it rained I couldn’t see my steering wheel in front of me the rain was that intense.
“I am pleased to have finished in seventh as it was my first time driving the Formula Jedi in the wet. Now I’ve experienced both wet and dry conditions, I hope to be better at Oulton Park next month.”
As the season has only three rounds remaining, the search for sponsors becomes more and more important to guarantee the seat for next year. If interested, email jsrharperellam@tiscali.co.uk.
